The controversial design found on a piece of armor in Destiny 2 has been removed following Monday's update, and the gauntlets now have a new look.

For those who were more concerned with losing out on some bladed armor entirely, you can rest easy knowing that Bungie left the actual piece of armor in the game and only took aim at its imagery. Players who had it in their inventory will still be able to equip and use it like normal, and others can still find it – it'll just look a bit different now.

The armor in question is called the Road Complex AA1 gauntlets, and several players who equipped the green and black apparel thought that the design on the upper arm looked a bit too much like the Kekistan flag, the product of a meme that's recently been used for some questionable purposes. While "kek" and Kekistan aren't exactly new concepts for Internet communities, the Kekistan flag has found its way into the hands of white supremacist groups and has been spotted during controversial protests.

Those who objected to Bungie removing the design from the game stressed that it was simply a meme used to troll people and was being blown out of proportion, but Bungie said that the similarities were a bit too close for comfort for them and announced that they'd be removing the design. The update today took care of that, and the armor now has a much plainer look.

The above image published by GameSpot shows the new version of the gauntlets, one that looks pretty much the same except for the removal of the questionable design. Sporting a simple look while preserving the qualities that made it a worthwhile piece of equipment in the first place, the new version is Bungie's timely response to a community concern.

While the removal of the design wasn't explicitly listed in Monday's patch notes, several other changes were that dealt with a couple of bugfixes regarding items and UI issues.
