When it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, anything can happen. Fans should expect anything and everything to happen - even the return of Howard the Duck. The beloved character returned to the big screen for a MCU easter egg in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy. And, now, one of the film's stars is saying the duck could make a comeback sooner than you might expect.

This weekend, ComicBook.com's Brandon David was able to attend a panel at Heroes & Villains Fan Fest in Atlanta. Several stars of Guardians of the Galaxy held a panel at the convention, and it was Dave Batista who said Howard the Duck may return to the MCU.

"As long as there's a James Gunn directing the film, there's a possibility of a Howard the Duck," Batista said.

Of course, this is not the first time someone from Guardians of the Galaxy has talked about the return of Howard the Duck. When the movie first came out, Gunn even talked about the possibility with Empire Magazine.

"I'll be honest with you, I was just talking about it with my assistant right now," Gunn said. "It's possible Howard could reappear as more of a character in the Marvel Universe. But if people think that's going to lead to a Howard The Duck movie, that's probably not going to happen in the next four years. Who knows after that?"

Gunn, who has said he loved the Howard the Duck comics, was fond enough to nod at the character in his blockbuster. It's not too surprising that Gunn would want to redeem the character's on-screen history. In 1986, a live-action film based on the comics was created and met with universal criticism.

However, George Lucas thinks Marvel Studios might one day tackle a Howard the Duck remake. The filmmaker produced the previous film, and he told attendees at last year's Tribeca Film Festival about his thoughts on the character's future.

"Even Howard the Duck is a cult classic," Lucas said. "I have a feeling that Marvel's gonna redo it because of the technology they have today."

"I told the producer and writer it's not gonna work," Lucas went on to say, referencing the film's panned reputation. "You can't put a dwarf in a duck suit and make it work!"
