Marvel's Spider-Man Has New Takes on Classic Villains
With every new iteration of Spider-Man on the big screen, we get a new Spider-Man cartoon concept [...]
New Classic Villains
When talking with Robbie Daymond about the show, the voice actor shared his enthusiasm for the new designs of Spider-Man's rogues that we'll see in Marvel's Spider-Man. According to Daymond:
"We've got Vulture right off the bat; Scorpion right off the bat. And when I saw the character designs... I was so excited. Like they're really, really, cool and unique character designs I haven't seen before."
The showrunners also confirmed that characters like Doctor Octopus will get an interesting evolution; he will start out as an ally, and slowly evolve into the villain we know. They also stated that villains like Hammerhead or Sandman's daughter may seem like the proverbial "villain of the episode," but that there will be reveals that will "keep you guessing." What fans should understand, is, "All these villains that you love from the comics are here, but we've introduced them in a new, unique, way."
One example that was given is Kraven The Hunter, who will appear in Marvel's Spider-Man as a reality show star in the vein of The Crocodile Hunter. The villain's trademark ego will still be a central part of his character - just expressed in a new way.
Meanwhile, we got some new footage that shows how a couple of iconic villains will look in the show:
prevnextVenom
In the clip above, we see Peter Parker/Spider-Man engaged in a familiar struggle with his iconic black suit. As Spidey tries to pry the symbiote suit off his body, it takes on the aggressive and monstrous visage of what we know will soon be Venom, once the symbiote has found a new host.
We don't know yet who Venom will be using as a host in Marvel's Spider-Man (Eddie Brock? Flash Thompson?) but the symbiote already looks plenty frightening (while still landing on the safe side of kid-friendly).
prevnextVulture
The version of Vulture featured in the clip looks like a combination of the Marvel Comics suits and the high-tech flight suit seen in Spider-Man: Homecoming. It's definitely a look for Vulture that we haven't seen before, but seems pretty cool and right at home in Marvel's Spider-Man animated universe.
Like Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming, this animated version of The Vulture seems to use his talons as central tools/weapons - as seen when he lifts Spider-Man up for an uncomfortable in-flight experience.
