Disney California Adventure's newest attraction, Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: BREAKOUT, will get a limited time holiday makeover and will feature original music as well as a new mission that serves as a sequel to the ride's exclusive story. The ride will operate normally during the day, transforming into Guardians of the Galaxy — Monsters After Dark at sunset.

"Since it opened, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! has been a big success at Disney California Adventure park and now guests will be able to experience the attraction in a whole new way with Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark," reads the official announcement.

"Part of the expansion of Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort to Disney California Adventure park, the Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark adventure picks up moments after the events of Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! attraction. The Guardians have successfully escaped The Collector's Fortress, but they have accidentally left Groot behind! Rocket enlists you to distract the creatures that have been accidentally released inside The Collector's Fortress so he can find and rescue his little buddy. While The Collector's ever-resourceful assistant, Apheta, may try to assure you that it is all just a momentary setback, you're advised to proceed with caution!"

The ride, which features multiple randomized storylines set to classic tracks, will introduce a new song to its "Awesome Mix": "Monsters After Dark," created exclusively for the ride by Tyler Bates, who scores Marvel Studios' blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy films.

The new song joins a setlist that includes The Jackson 5's "I Want You Back," Pat Benatar's "Hit Me With Your Best Shot," Parliament's "Give Up the Funk," Steppenwolf's "Born to be Wild," The Edgar Winter Group's "Free Ride," and Elvis Presley's "Burning Love."

Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: BREAKOUT opened on May 27, as part of the limited-time-only "Summer of Heroes" celebration.
Guests are encouraged to use the #SaveGroot hashtag and share their spooky park experiences on social media. Guardians of the Galaxy — Monsters After Dark can only be found at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, celebrating Halloween Time September 15—October 31.
