At the last D23 Expo in 2015, Star Wars fans were relegated to just a small part of two panels. In the "Live action" panel, a little bit of Star Wars: The Force Awakens promotion was sandwiched between Disney's live-action fairy tales and the next Marvel Studios epics. In the Parks and Resorts panel, new details about the "Star Wars Land" areas at both US Disney parks were teased briefly, amongst news for the rest of the parks around the world.

But this year, according to a new rumor from Star Wars News Net and their sources, it sounds like Star Wars will get a much bigger share of the pie. Fans who were frustrated waiting so long for the title of Episode VIII, Star Wars: The Last Jedi to be revealed shouldn't have to stick it out as long for Han Solo: A Star Wars Story to get an official title. If the rumor is correct, the title will be revealed at D23 Expo this July, in Anaheim. That might be simply the biggest piece of news they can deliver at that show, unless things like future Star Wars Story films or Episode IX release news could possibly be revealed, which leads us to the other rumor.

The other half of the rumor is that the rest of the Star Wars franchise, especially the future of the franchise, should get a more significant spotlight at this year's show. D23 Expo is exactly two months after Star Wars Celebration Orlando in April. While that show will focus primarily on The Last Jedi (and presumably Star Wars Rebels), D23 Expo could be used to really look at the next few years of Star Wars films and events. That means new information about 2019's Star Wars Land openings, possible new movies added to the slate, and more.

It all makes sense, since D23 Expo is a Disney-only event and takes place every other year, giving a broader look at the future of the franchise as a whole would work out well for the House of Mouse. As for Han Solo, we don't yet have a schedule for Celebration 2018, and the movie comes out before SDCC 2018, so if it's going to get the convention spotlight, D23 Expo may be their best and only chance.

Han Solo: A Star Wars Story is filming now under directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller for a May 25, 2018 release. Alden Ehrenreich stars as a young Han Solo and Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca in the era before Star Wars: A New Hope, before they met Leia and Luke and embarked on a galaxy-saving adventure. Donald Glover also stars as Lando Calrissian, with Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Emilia Clarke in as-yet-unrevealed co-starring roles.
