Nick pushes a shopping cart through the streets, collecting walker heads and throwing them in like basketballs before returning to the Bazar.
Once inside, the butcher slices the faces off of the walkers and evaluates their brain stems. "The longer you wait, the greater the risk of infection," the butcher said. Nick questions why anyone would take such a risk and the man tells him these stems provide "a high worth dying for." Nick will continue harvesting if this man keeps paying him.
Outside, a militia is forming as Troy looks on. They are loading trucks and boats with weapons. Troy approaches one man and speaks to him in Spanish.
Inside the Bazar, Nick drinks at a bar as Troy approaches him. "Fun's over," Troy tells him before yanking him away. "These proctors, they have big plans. They're planning to attack the dam. Your mother's in trouble, Nick."
The Fear the Walking Dead logo takes the screen.
At the dam, Strand and Madison observe the water together. Strand encourages Madison to be more optimistic and envision the land this can become. She wants grandkids to spoil and Christmas mornings surrounded by babies. She recalls old holiday memories with her kids and reveals she thought she would have that at the Ranch. Strand insists they can have that here and they'll build such a paradise here that her kids will want to come home. He hands over a bottle of whiskey to raise her spirits.
Meanwhile, Alicia and her unnamed friend ride down a street together. Her friend wants her hair but Alicia won't sell it. Suddenly, they are slammed into at an intersection. Alicia's head slammed into the window. Her friend jumps out and starts attacking the men. Alicia gets into a fight, taking out one man before fighting another for her rifle. Alicia shoots her rifle in the air and orders the men to run despite her friend ordering her to shoot them.
Daniel is approached by Qaletaca and presented with a cross pendant necklace. Daniel has questions about Ofelia's death. Qaletaca asks himself the same questions. "I don't know the answers," he says. "I wasn't there."
At the dam, Madison continues to put the whiskey away with Strand. They engage in some philosophical conversation and wonder how long until everything is forgotten. "We'll write new stories, Madison," he tells her. She orders him to reveal whatever he is hiding. "Have you ever killed anyone?" he asks. She has, claiming she had to. "I haven't murdered," he tells her. He suspects he will have to eventually. She tells him it gets easier every time as Daniel arrives to tell her Nick has arrived at the dam.
Troy and Nick are quick to reveal to Lola and the others that the Proctors are going to attack the dam. Daniel reveals there are three entry ways. They come up with a plan to defend the dam which calls for C4 and teamwork.
Later, Madison points her anger at Nick for using drugs again. Nick, however, is urging her to abandon the dam before the proctors come.
Inside, Madison finds Mad Dog and Qaletaca packing. They are going to head north, unwilling to die at the dam. "It's been good walking with you, Madison Clark," he says before shaking hands and exiting.
At the Bazar, Alicia gets her friend's leg treated. It is now wrapped in a cast. This man lost his medical license in the 90's after a "misunderstanding with a lady patient" and will be careful with this lady friend following Alicia's warning about her skills with a pick axe. The man asks for help with a surgery.
At the dam, Strand orders Nick to take his mother and leave. He is going to stay behind because he has "obligations" here. Nick calls him out for sweating. Strand reveals he made a deal with Procter John to protect Nick, Alicia and Madison. He'll have to open the doors for them but now that Daniel has found out people are going to be in danger. Strand asks Nick not to tell Daniel but to take his mother and go.
Elsewhere, Nick approaches Daniel. Daniel asks him to sit with him for a moment. "I want to ask you something," he said. "You were with her, my Ofelia, when she was bitten?" Nick tells him he wasn't. "Wasn't everyone trapped in a bunker?" Daniel asks. Nick reveals he was outside and saw the horde coming. "How could you miss it?" Daniel asks. Nick says Troy saw the horde first and tried to warn everyone.
"Ofelia was in the bunker with Alicia," Nick said as Daniel locks the door. "She saved Alicia's life."
Daniel turns to Nick. "You're lying," he said.
Daniel asks Nick if he is familiar with his background. He places a chair on the ground and hopes this will go easier, having a conversation and not an interrogation. Nick asks torture is what Ofelia would want. "No, she wouldn't, but she's dead," Daniel said. "People don't change. We just walk in circles."
Daniel orders Nick to sit down and he does.
Meanwhile, Troy is sharpening some weapons and preparing for battle with Madison. "Life's funny," Troy said. "We walk around in circles and end up in Mexico, of all places." They're setting charges on the walls. Troy tells her the trading post is not good for him or Nick. They have a moment of holding hands while placing a charge. He can reach higher than she can. Troy tells her Nick showed him how to feel fear. "I think Nick's my only friend," he tells her. "Like a brother." She thanks him for looking after Nick and will need him to keep doing that. He begins spewing slightly racist comments and Madison tells im to stop because he'll get himself and Nick hurt as they are guests in this country.
"You were both guests at the Ranch," Troy said. "Now look at us. One big blended family. I mean, we never missed a beat, did we? I guess what I'm trying to say is... I miss this."
He checks with Madison to make sure they're good. She tells him they are.
Back in the garage, Daniel is thoroughly questioning Nick who is covering for Troy. Daniel believes Nick did not kill Ofelia but insists someone lead the horde to the Ranch. "Don't force me," Daniel says before standing up and taking his coat off.
Back where Alicia is hanging out, she meets a man in a wheelchair. The doctor tells the man this is his new assistant. She's questioned on where she is from and if she knows who this man is. He is the leader of the proctors and he had high hopes for this group when founding it, including a trade route, connecting the refineries in Houston to the farmlands in Houston. He tells her Texas has its own electrical grid. He will have this surgery to try to fix a condition which has been weighing on his ability to work.
"I have no experience," she tells him. He insists her only job is to assist. If the surgery is a success, she can come with them to Texas and beyond. If it fails, his brothers will execute everyone in the room.
Back in the garage, Daniel claims either Nick, Troy, or Jake had to lead the herd to the Ranch. "It was Jake," Nick said. Daniel insists it way Troy. Daniel wants Nick to admit it so he can "get justice for his dead daughter." Still, Nick insists Troy would never destroy the Ranch. Daniel appears to believe Nick's lie and dismisses Nick to his mother. Nick leaves and Daniel sits alone with his thoughts.
Alicia begins her surgical procedure. The man insists he won't be "going under" because its "not safe." The room is loaded with guards. Her job is to hold him down if he is in pain or starts moving. She starts a conversation with him, prompting some memories of his old family as Eddie cuts into his back. He starts to lose focus of his conversation as Eddie digs into back. Alicia continues the conversation and holds his hand as Eddie yanks the tumor out. The Proctor calls Alicia a "tough kid" before screaming in pain.
At the dam, Daniel talks with Strand. He is unhappy about how the water is pumping out of the damn. Strand insists Lola has it taken care of.
Daniel and Madison have wrapped up their planting of C4. Nick finds them and insists they leave now for several reasons, including Daniel wanting to kill Troy. Troy reveals to Madison that he lead the herd to the Ranch. Madison is furious. They compete with who took more from the other. Troy insists, though, that he had the right to do that. Madison bashes Troy's skull with a hammer, twice, sending him falling down a hill. Nick is shocked and walks out, Madison close behind him.
Back at the surgery, Proctor John is recovering. Alicia asks how he feels and questions whether he can wiggle his toes. He tries for a while with all of the guards looking on. Eventually, they move and everyone is relieved. "I had faith in you the whole time," John tells Eddie. Another man enters the room and tells John the group is starting to move on the tunnel pipes. He tells Alicia they are going to hit the road together.
At the dam, Daniel finds Lola trying to fix the levers. Strand approaches with a gun drawn and orders her to step away. She realizes the entrance in unprotected. Strand reveals his plans and turns the gun to Daniel who says, "You are not a killer, you're a con man." Strand stands his gun while Daniel orders he hand over the gun. Daniel eventually attacks him and they fight for the gun. Strand shoots Daniel in the chin in front of Lola. Daniel slowly rises up with a bullet hole in his cheek, spitting blood and teeth from his mouth. Lola escorts him out of the room.
One by one, the Proctor gang is invading the dam. nick and Madison see them and flee. They are on every level of the dam. A gunfight ensues with bodies dropping left and right.
Victor tries to escape and encounters the proctors, lying and telling them Lola and Daniel are dead. He comes across Madison and Nick and tries to escape with them. They hide in an isolated room. Strand tells them to stay here and asks for the detonator, promising he will do everything in his power to prevent harm to either of them. He leaves and Madison locks the door behind him.
