Rumored Cyclops candidate Taron Egerton was recently asked about his rumored involvement in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse.

During a Q&A session for Egerton's current film, Kingsman: The Secret Service, an audience member asked him quite bluntly if he was going to play Cyclops.

"I can't really comment on the Cyclops thing. I'm not really sure what's going on there or where that's come from," he said. "But my friend, Nicholas, plays Beast and he says that's very fun. I don't know. Of course, everyone would like to play a superhero, but this is by no means me saying that I would like to go play, what was it, Cyclops. So I don't know."

Egerton then said that he'd like his next project to be a smaller "dramatic piece," a category that The X-Men film franchise doesn't exactly fall under. And since production for Apocalypse should commence sometime this year, he may not have the time to play Scott Summers.

Egerton's name was recently thrown into the X-Men: Apocalypse mix as a potential actor for Cyclops. Cyclops, along with Jean Grey and Storm, are reportedly being rebooted as younger versions of themselves in the upcoming X-Men sequel. Also in consideration for the role, according to The Latino Review, include Ben Hardy, Charlie Rowe and Timothee Chalamet.

You can check out Egerton's full answer below, which lands at about the 6:00 mark.

X-Men: Apocalypse opens on May 27, 2016.
