Don't Breathe filmmaker Fede Alvarez is reportedly committed to direct Incognito, the adaptation of Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips's 2008 Icon Comics miniseries of the same name, IndieWire reports.

The series is kind of like a dark twist on The Incredibles, in that it centers on a supervillain who has to suppress his powers and pretend to be normal in order to fit into his community while in witness protection.

After experimenting with narcotics reveals that he can get his powers back by causing drug interactions that interfere with the one suppressing his abilities, the former villain becomes a hero so that he can get his exciting lifestyle back without being arrested again -- but it's bad news when the supervillain he testified against puts it all together and figures out who he is and what he's doing.

Brubaker, the best-selling writer arguably best known for a long run on Captain America, in which he created the character of the Winter Soldier, wrote the series, which was drawn by his frequent collaborator Sean Phillips.

Daniel Casey, who wrote 10 Cloverfield Lane and the recent James Franco film Kin, will take point on the screenplay. Elements of the original comics will almost certainly not be adapted into the final film, as each issue of both Incognito and its follow-up miniseries Incognito: Bad Influences, featured an essay about the characters and history of classic pulp fiction by author Jess Nevins.

This isn't the first time Hollywood has tried to make Incognito happen; back in 2010, 20th Century Fox optioned the property, with an eye toward making a movie with director Robert Schenkkan (Pump Up The Volume).
