The dates for the Destiny 2 beta have been revealed, and depending on what system you're planning to purchase the game on and if you choose to preorder it, you might be able to get your hands on the game a bit sooner than others.

Bungie recently released the dates for their sequel shooter and confirmed that those players on PlayStation 4 will be given the first shot at trying out the beta. PS4 players who have preordered the game will be able to begin their beta testing on July 18 at 10 a.m. PT, and they'll have the early access beta all to themselves for a full day. If you're planning on playing Destiny 2 on the Xbox One, those who preordered the game will be able to get into the early access beta on July 19, also being unlocked at 10 a.m. PT. PC players will have a bit longer to wait for their hands-on run though, as a release date for the PC beta has yet to be announced. The only thing that is known about the PC version's beta at this time is that it is set to be released in late August. That'll only be roughly a month of PC beta access before the game is fully released on consoles in September.

But if you don't plan on preordering the game at all and still want to get in on the beta action, you'll still have that chance, you'll just get it a bit later. Full beta access, preorder or not, will open up for both the Xbox One and the PS4 on July 21 at the same time of day as the early access.

If you're planning on joining the beta, you can look forward to both PvP and story-driven action. The game's beta page also indicates that the current beta dates are still subject to change, but that could mean good news for how long the beta will last as opposed to when it'll open. The beta for the first Destiny game got extended and allowed players a big more time to test it out, so it could very well happen with this game's beta as well.

You'll need a Bungie account and the beta key in order to gain access to the beta, a process which is explained along with answers to other questions on the game's beta page.
