HQ Trivia

The daily live trivia app HQ Trivia has become wildly popular, with players vying for a chance to win money, and has been consistently keeping things fresh with new rules and other changes.

That said, it's not perfect – and a recent behind-the-scenes action with the app suggests that people may be leaving it in droves.

Hello Giggles has recently reported that, despite the engagement rates of the app and the charm of the program's host, Scott Rogowsky, a recent raise in funds has in turn raised questions by some users.

Peter Thiel's organization Founder Fund recently raised $15 million for the app, but some folks are taking objection – mainly because he's a supporter of President Donald Trump.

As a result, some people believe that the prize money that could be won on the app might very well be coming directly from Thiel's bank account.

They've since taken to social networks, using the hashtag "#DELETEHQ" and asking people not to partake in the app anymore.

Thiel has had his fair share of controversy in the past, reportedly being the driving force behind the shutdown of Gawker. But the fact he supports Trump – he even spoke proudly about him at the Republican National Convention – probably pushed more of these naysayers behind their recent decision.

The #DeleteHQ hashtag is gaining steam on social networks, particularly Twitter, and some folks have even emailed HQ Trivia directly to have their accounts removed.

The trivia company hasn't responded as of yet, and probably won't, mainly because of Thiel's involvement in their business. But it'd be a shame to see this as their downfall, when they were thriving so much over the past few months.

We'll keep you informed if the company does respond, or what decisions they might make in regards to keeping their user base from dwindling. But, for the time being, if you want to see just how effective #DeleteHQ is becoming, feel free to take a quick look over at Twitter. There are a lot more people speaking out about it than anyone could've ever guessed.
