To Marvel fans, Hayley Atwell is a gem. The British actress was introduced to comic book readers after Atwell was cast as Agent Peggy Carter in Captain America: The First Avenger. The role proved popular, leaving Atwell to reprise Peggy Carter in other projects, but the character recent bid fans farewell after ABC canceled Agent Carter. And, now, the actress is saying her work with Peggy has helped her prep for future shows.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Atwell gushed about Peggy and her love for the character. "Obviously, Peggy has been a huge part of my life and is still a huge part of my life," she started.

"She gave me an American fanbase, an American audience, and paved the way for me to play Hayes [on Conviction]. I felt that I built up the stamina from Peggy to know what leading a show meant. I'm now a little more used to it," she explained.

If you haven't heard about Conviction, then you should know the series follow Haye Morrison, a former First Daughter who's known for her scandalous behavior. She is blackmailed into heading a legal division called the Conviction Integrity Unit that re-examines cases accused of wrongful convictions. The primetime drama will star Atwell as its lead alongside Eddie Cahill, Shawn Ashmore, and others.

The actress took a moment to compare her two roles and stressed she will be "a little bit calmer" on Conviction than she was in Agent Carter.

Atwell also confessed she keeps touch with the cast and crew of Agent Carter despite the show's end. I'm very fortunate in that I still have the best bits of that experience," she said.

"I'm still in contact with the poeple I worked with. I'm in a group chat with the producers, the writers, and James D'Arcy and Dominic Cooper. We all just chat constantly, which is lovely, because that's what the whole show ended up being for us, just a lot of people wanting to work together and getting the chance to do that."

For fans of Agent Carter, you will also be happy to hear that Atwell would love to return to the character. The actress has spoken about her desire to reprise Peggy in several interviews since the show's cancelation was confirmed. The actress described Agent Carter as "a much-loved show."

"We know that the fans, it has a special place in their hearts," she said. "I would be very happy to go back to her if she became available....She does still seem to live on a lot for the fans. And Marvel is still such a big part of my career, especially my professional family, that I would absolutely not rule out the idea of going back to Peggy at some point, seeing her in other avenues. I love her, and I hope that she has a life elsewhere at another time."

Conviction will premiere on ABC on October 3, 2016.
