Confirmed: Yellowjacket Is A Villain in Ant-Man

When reported on word that Ant-Man would feature Yellowjacket as a villain (possibly played by Patrick Wilson), lo those many minutes ago, we advised our readers to take it with salt.

That's because, while Badass Digest's Devin Faraci is a reliable reporter, the phrasing of the story left us wondering whether he was speculating or confirming from firsthand knowledge. Erring on the side of caution, we labeled the story a rumor.

Within about ten minutes of running that story, though, a trusted source reached out to to independently verify the story, providing details that we agreed to keep quiet in order to convince us of its veracity.

As we stated in the previous story, the report already seemed like a rumor that was plausible and common-sense enough to be true on its face, and a secondary confirmation from a source who's never misled us before is enough to call it confirmed.

In the comics, of course, Yellowjacket is one of a number of costumed identities taken on by the original Ant-Man, Hank Pym (played in the movie by Michael Douglas) but the story pictured above isn't likely to play out with Douglas in the costume. Instead, Yellowjacket will appear as a villain, played most likely by one of the two already-cast villains (Wilson and Corey Stoll). No word on whether Giant-Man or Goliath will be used.

Ant-Man is expected in theaters on August 17, 2015. It will be directed by Yes Man director Peyton Reed and stars Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Stoll, Wilson and Evangeline Lilly.
