X-Men Days Of Future Past Box Office

Could the X-Men beat Captain America and Spider-Man? It's certainly starting to look that way. According to Variety, X-Men: Days Of Future Past is tracking for a massive $125 million opening weekend at the U.S. box office. Of course, X-Men: Days of Future Past is opening on Memorial Day weekend, so the $125 million reflects a four day opening weekend, rather than the three day opening weekend numbers usually cited for Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Amazing Spider-Man 2. However, even when making a true four day to four day comparison, X-Men: Days of Future Past is still projected to come out on top. Captain America: The Winter Soldier took in $101.24 million at the U.S. box office in its first four days, and Amazing Spider-Man 2 will likely finish under a $100 million for its first four day total. If the projections prove accurate for X-men: Days of Future Past, then the film should have the largest opening weekend at the U.S. box office in 2014 so far (unless Godzilla surprises with an even larger opening weekend). It would also make for the largest four day opening weekend ever for a X-Men franchise movie. X-Men: The Last Stand currently holds the record with a $122.86 million four day opening weekend.
