There are currently no plans to add Spider-Woman to the Amazing Spider-Man film universe, according to director Marc Webb. When asked by E! News if Spider-Woman may be included as the film series expands into and around its third and fourth entries, Webb said, "That hasn't been on my mind, but it's an interesting idea." Spider-Woman is the superhero alter ego of Jessica Drew. After a 50-issue solo series from the late 70s into the early 80s, she was killed off and replaced by other characters bearing the name. She was eventually resurrected, but saw little use until Brian Michael Bendis made her a member of the Avengers in his New Avengers reboot of the franchise, where she has become popular enough to headline her own miniseries and remain a staple member off the Avengers, seeing active duty on one roster or another (currently in Secret Avengers, the covert ops group). Amazing Spider-Man 2, the next film in the franchise, hits theaters May 2, 2014.
