In Gotham Central, the comic generally assumed to be the inspiration for FOX's Gotham, the mere existence of the Batman in Gotham City leads police officers to wonder what the point is of what they do.

Apparently, in the same way that Batman's methods and skillset make the GCPD feel obsolete, Superman will make Batman question the point of his mission in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

"He's confronted with a question of what is the point of his mission when he has to face the fact that there is a Superman alive in the world," actor Ben Affleck told USA Today. "The philanthropist playboy as another way to feed the hole that he feels of emptiness inside him, just as much as going out and fighting bad guys at night."

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City's own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis's most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it's ever known before.
