Iron Man 3 Casting Call

After The Avengers, Iron Man 3 is the next Marvel Studios movie. Iron Man has the honor of being the first Marvel Studios franchise to reach its third movie. While doing press for The Avengers, Marvel Studios President of Production Kevin Feige and Iron Man 3 star Robert Downey Jr. revealed some of the details about the upcoming film. Here are five things we know so far about Iron Man 3. Ben Kingsley Might Play A Villain – While Marvel Studios President of Production wouldn't confirm to Collider that Ben Kingsley had been cast in Iron Man 3, he also didn't deny it. When asked directly if he would be in the movie by MetroNew Canada, Kingsley said he couldn't answer yet but that he would be able to confirm by the end of the month. While it seems a good bet that Kingsley will be part of the movie, there is conflicting info on who he will play and if he will be the main villain or not. Iron Man 3 To Be Shot Mainly In North Carolina – In a huge win for the North Carolina film industry, the state lured Iron Man 3 to film at EUE Screen Gem Studios in Wilmington, North Carolina. EUE Screen Gem is known for having one of the largest waters tanks in North America, and Wilmington is a coastal town. It's been rumored that the water tank will play a major role in the movie. Iron Man 3 To Be Shot Partially In China – Disney officially announced that they would be co-producing Iron Man 3 with Chinese partner DMG Entertainment. Many have interpreted this announcement as confirmation that The Mandarin will be the main villain in Iron Man 3. However, others think the Chinese involvement signals The Mandarin either won't be the villain or will be substantially changed from the comic book version. The Disney announcement even mentioned that some location shooting would take place in China in late summer. Iron Man 3 Is Not A Pseudo-Avengers 2 – Kevin Feige made this statement to Collider, and it seems he wasn't kidding. While initial reports had Scarlett Johansson returning as Black Widow, Johannson has gone on record saying she will not be part of Iron Man 3. Mark Ruffalo expressed interest in making an appearance in Iron Man 3, but Kevin Feige shot down that possibility. Iron Man 3 Is Full-On Tony Stark-centric – Kevin Feige told Collider that Iron Man 3 is actually inspired by the first half of Iron Man 1. Feige said, "Metaphorically, we're not going back to the cave there's nothing like that, but we've always said let's get Tony back to the cave, which is he's stripped of everything, he's backed up against a wall, and he's gotta use his intelligence to get out of it." Iron Man 3 is scheduled to be released in theaters in the United States on May 3, 2013.
