Mandrake the Magician movie

Talk about a blast from the past. Apparently, there is a Mandrake the Magician movie in the works. Yes, as in the Mandrake the Magician comic strip that was created in 1934 by Lee Falk, who later went on to create The Phantom. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. has just acquired the movie rights to Mandrake the Magician, and Atlas Entertainment will be in charge of producing the film. The Mandrake the Magician comic strip told the story of Mandrake as he used his powers of hypnotism to fight various villains. Mandrake could make people see illusions, which came in handy against gangsters and mad scientists. In addition to the comic strip, Mandrake the Magician has also appeared in comic books, in early movie serials, on the radio, and as a TV movie. Reportedly, Warner Bros. plans to give the character a 21st century makeover, just like they did with Sherlock Holmes. No word on who will play Mandrake the Magician yet, but let the casting speculation begin.
