While doing press for Nick Powell's Outcast, Academy Award-winning actor Nicolas Cage ("Leaving Las Vegas") showered his co-star Hayden Christensen with praise for his portrayal of Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars prequels.
“And so, I watched George’s movies, and the work Hayden did with George, and I was very impressed with Hayden’s sort of edgy, dangerous, dark and still soulful performance," Cage told IGN. "I thought it was superb. And so I really connected with him.”
Cage's compliment seems heartfelt, but then again it probably has more to do with developing a relationship with Hayden while working on their film. I don't think Cage's comments will change how Star Wars fans feel about Hayden, as most would consider the actor a weak link in the prequels. Although, Hayden has turned in some good performances since Star Wars, like the 2003 film Shattered Glass. Maybe underwhelming performance had more to do George Lucas' script and direction?
