Former EastEnders heartthrob Sam Strike, who played Johnny Carter, has landed the lead role in a major Hollywood film. Could it be, Spider-Man?

A bit of a flimsy rumor is circulating the internet today. It has everyone trying to play connect the dots. Yesterday, Strike's agent Lee Morgan revealed that Strike had been offered the lead role in a "big US film." Then people dug through Strike's twitter feed and noticed that several days ago he posted that he was hitting the gym for a new role.

So, what's the connection to Spider-Man? On the day he tweeted about going back to the gym Strike retweeted one of Robert Downey Jr.'s tweets. Downey will appear in Captain America: Civil War, which is expected to feature the first appearance of Marvel's new Spider-Man. Yup, that's about it.

Who knows, maybe he'll join fellow EastEnders actor Ben Hardy in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse? Or, maybe he'll be in Suicide Squad which will begin filming soon?

Update! El Mayimbe just tweeted that he has reached out to his sources and is hearing that Strike's role is more than likely X-Men or Deadpool related. Plus, Spider-Man casting is still active and "reading a lot of teen actors to play 15 yrs old."

Next Spider-Man film will arrive July 28, 2017. Rumor has it that Drew Goddard ("Cabin In The Woods") will direct and it will be titled The Spectacular Spider-Man.
