While the conversation about Star Wars: The Force Awakens and where it ranks among the films in the franchise will go on well past the end of this year and into the next several decades (if the other films are any indication), fans in its corner have one piece of significant fuel. The movie's rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the review aggregator that pulls in reviews from around the world, is the highest of the entire franchise.

Yes, that means The Force Awakens out ranks the original Star Wars and the well-regarded The Empire Strikes Back. It's only one percent of difference, though, at 95%, versus 94% for the other two.

So it may not be by much, but as of right now, the consensus is that Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the best Star Wars movie ever. Even if you don't agree with that particular statement, it's certainly a significant indication that Star Wars is back in a major way.
