Cable and Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld has confirmed, via Twitter, that an X-Force film script has been written and paid for by Fox. Last week, Fox announced planned release dates for several films, including "Fantastic Four 2" and a third Wolverine movie. There was also a listing for an unnamed Marvel movie, set to release on July 13, 2018. With Liefeld confirming that the script has been written and paid for, it seems likely that X-Force is aiming to hit the big screen in 2018. Liefeld continued to tweet about his understanding of the X-Men film franchise, as pieced together through conversations with people in the industry. He says that "X-Men: Days of Future Past" was a huge investment for the studio, something done to attempt to put the franchise in the same league as the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The fact that "X-Men: Apocalypse" is already announced shows how pleased the studio is with how "Days of Future Past" turned out, and that film's success will give director/producer Bryan Singer and writer Simon Kinberg a stronger voice in how things move forward. He also said that Cable and Deadpool are valuable properties and that, the more successful and numerous the X-Men films are, the more likely and sooner we are to see Cable and Deadpool make appearances. You can check out the relevant tweets, embedded below. The next film in the X-Men franchise is "X-Men: Days of Future Past," coming to theaters May 23. The film happens to feature Warpath, a founding X-Force member and mainstay, as an X-Man fighting for survival in a future overrun with mutant-hunting sentinels.
