Disney On Track To Break Industry Box Office Record

Over the past couple of years, Disney has churned out more blockbuster hits than any other studio around. Their aqcuisitions of Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm, combined with the wildly successful Pixar Animation, has set them up for box office dominance.

In 2016, however, Disney has taken things to another level. It seems as though the studio just can't be stopped this year.

When you take into account the releases of Finding Dory, Zootopia, The Jungle Book, and Captain America: Civil War, Disney has seemingly annihilated their competition. The $5.81 billion the studio has already made has them well on the way to beat their previous personal best of $5.84 billion.

Disney has already set records at the box office this season by becoming the quickest studio to hit $2 billion domestically, $3 billion internationally, and $5 billion globally.

With their pending releases of Doctor Strange, Moana, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Disney is also set to smash the overall box office record for one company in a year.

In 2015, Universal set this record with their hits Jurassic World and Fast & Furious 7, making $6.89 billion in the process.

When looking at those final three films coming from Disney, the projections show they are on pace to easily surpass the record set by Universal.

Unless one of the three above films flops (Moana would be the most likely, but still shouldn't happen) Disney will set the new standard for box office supremecy.

While 2016 has been a big year for the company, it's entirely likely that 2017 could see their own record broken. The company has three films being released from Marvel Studios (Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Black Panther) as well as Cars 3 from Pixar, and Star Wars Episode VIII.

It seems as though Disney just can't be stopped, and it has no plans of slowing down anytime soon.
