Joss Whedon's contractual obligation to Marvel Studios comes to a conclusion after Avengers: Age Of Ultron is released, but fans don't want to see him leave the nest. Could he return or is he done with Marvel?

"Well I'm definitely going to take a real break for a couple months because my brain is no longer," Whedon told Collider at a press event for The Avengers sequel. "You know, I've looked at both options. I love these guys. I love these movies; they're exciting. But part of me does think, 'You know what? I got to find out what's next.'"

Whedon added that he currently has no clue what his next project will be and not knowing what comes next is actually a relief to him. He also won't rule out any genres as he loves them and all mediums equally.

Listen to Whedon's comments in the video below.

Marvel Studios presents Avengers: Age of Ultron, the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth's Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to the Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.

Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters on May 1, 2015.
