The legendary George "Meadowlark" Lemon of the Harlem Globetrotters has died. The 6'3" basketball star who once famously pushed Wilt "The Stilt" Chamberlain out of the Center position and made him play Guard for the team, was 83.

The 16,000 game veteran is in the Basketball Hall of Fame, and one of only five members of the team to have his number retired. He was also immortalized in the Harlem Globetrotters animated series, which was also adapted as a comic book by Gold Key Comics in 1972. Lemon's character was voiced by Scatman Crothers. The Globetrotters also crossed over with Scooby-Doo with a Meadowlark character there, too.

Lemon is survived by his wife and ten children.
