ABC Gives Pilot Order To Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff, Marvel’s Most Wanted

Today at the Television Critics Association press tour, ABC President Paul Lee revealed that the network has given a pilot order to Marvel’s Most Wanted, an Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff that will star Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood, who play Barbara “Bobbi” Morse, aka Mockingbird, and Lance Hunter in the Marvel universe.

“We are making it in the next few months,” Lee said at a TCA panel. “It’s a really good script.”

This will feel like deja vu to many of you as the first reports of this spinoff surfaced back in April of last year. A month later, the spinoff was put on hold. At that time, Lee said it wasn't the right time to take those two characters, Bobbi and Hunter, from Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.

S.H.I.E.L.D. executive produer Jeffrey Bell and series writer Paul Zbyszewski are developing Marvel’s Most Wanted. They wrote the pilot and if the show goes to series Zbyszewski will serve as its showrunner.

  1. I guess my main question is... why?

  2. This is so stupid. These characters are great, but undeserving of a spinoff, and the numbers definitely don't show it, so why is it happening? It's not important to, like, anything

It'd be interesting to see how the incorporate the storylines from AOS and this show. The only way I can see this show from NOT taking Morse and Hunter off AoS is to have to show their prior adventures/missions before the events of Agents of SHIELD. The only other possibility is for Coulson to send them off during present day to do top secret duo missions to occur at the end of a mid-season premiere or season premiere. Then a 6 to 8 episode arc would show their sequence of top secret missions before accomplishing it and returning back to AoS in time for the mid-season or season premiere.

My guess is as Agents of Shield starts assembling new agents with actual powers who will be fighting opponents with powers, then the show gets too crowded. So Marvel rather than killing off good actors they got and popular characters will be taking those characters who'd feel outmatched and will move them to a show more suiting to their abilities. So Agents of Shield will really be Secret Warriors (but with more Inhumans than that comic) and Most Wanted will be more a cop/spy show which will start assembling a supporting cast of characters more in line with the shows direction. Director Coulson will likely cross over often to launch it and actors will crossover back and forth from time to time afterwards.

If they are gonna spin this off, make sure its just Bobbi and in her superhero garb, now that would be very cool, otherwise don't bother.
