Madchen Amick Cast As Alice Cooper In Riverdale

Another day, another Riverdale casting announcement.

This time, Mädchen Amick is joining the cast of TheCW's Archie Comics-based television series. She'll be playing Alice Cooper, the "editor of the local paper, described as a steely perfectionist who places exceedingly high expectations on her daughter, Betty (to be played by Lili Reinhart)."

The 45-year-old actress is best known for her roles in Twin Peaks, Gossip Girl, American Horror Story: Hotel and Lifetime's Witches of East End.

Amick joins a cast that features KJ Apa as Archie, Ashleigh Murray as Josie, Luke Perry as Archie's dad Fred Andrews, Cole Sprouse as Jughead, Marisol Nichols as Hermione Lodge, and Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom.

The live-action series offers a bold, subversive take on Archie, Betty, Veronica, and their friends, exploring small-town life and the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale's wholesome facade. The show will focus on the eternal love triangle of Archie Andrews, girl-next-door Betty Cooper, and rich socialite Veronica Lodge, and will include the entire cast of characters from the comic books—including Archie's rival, Reggie Mantle, and his slacker best friend, Jughead Jones.

Riverdale is expected to debut on The CW next fall.
