A player used a classic Pokemon game to show off one of Minecraft's newest features. A Reddit user named Requag recreated Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen within Minecraft, complete with a virtual GameBoy Advance console. Requag used Structure Blocks, a new style of block introduced in Minecraft's latest update. Structure Blocks are used by mapmakers to save structures and features and copy them multiple times on the map.

Requaq used the Structure Blocks to recreate the entire Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen map, including interior buildings. Requaq's team of builders hasn't figured out a way to replicate other classic Pokemon features, such as battling and dialogue, but their goal is to fully recreate Pokemon FireRed in the near future. There's a few other limitations, such as the map lagging to keeep up, but it's still an impressive piece of work. The best part is that fans who want to check the map out won't need to download any mods, as the map was created within Minecraft's main software.

More information on the Pokemon FireRed map can be found here. The team also posted a handy YouTube video showing off some of their work.
