Wonder Woman made a big splash at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, where Warner Bros. released a new poster and trailer for the long awaited film.
In fact, it even seemed to dwarf Warner Bros. upcoming Suicide Squad as well as the first footage from Zack Snyder's Justice League. Fans can't seem to get enough new looks at the Amazon, and thanks to Empire we have another glimpse at the heroine.
In the trailer, Wonder Woman can be seen on the battlefield with shield in hand, as she blocks a hail of gunfire while trying to make her way across enemy lines. The new photo appears to be shot during this sequence, as Diana is hunched over with her shield, and soldiers can be seen on borders of the photo. The visual aesthetic of this film is just fantastic, and more shots like this will continue to make that just under a year wait feel more like 3.
Actor Chris Pine, who plays Steve Trevor in the film, recently spoke about the setting of the film, which takes place primarily in World War 1.
"It's a period we don't see often; it's usually World War II," Pine says. "Our costume design is incredible. We have scenes with, like, 500 extras all in period dress. I'd never been on a film with extras casting as beautifully done as it is here. It highlights a really important point. When background casting is done well, it can make or break a scene. I've got people in deep background that have entire lives. It's awesome, it's actual make-believe land."
He also had nothing but kind words towards director Patty Jenkins. "Patty is just directing the daylights out of it. It's shot beautifully feels so wonderfully period, but also has this wonderful pop sensibility."
Wonder Woman releases on June 23rd, 2017. You can view the new photo in the gallery.
