Today marks the six-year anniversary of actor Henry Cavill being cast in the role of Superman as a part Warner Brothers' DC Extended Universe.

Cavill, 33, was announced in 2011 to player Superman and Clark Kent in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel. After helping kick off the DCEU by starring in first superhero solo flick, Cavill next appeared in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Cavill will continue to play the Man of Steel in 2017's Justice League and a second Superman solo film, which has yet to be named.

Prior to his time as Superman, Cavill launched his acting career by starring as Charles Brandon in Showtime's The Tudors. Cavill also starred alongside actor Archie Hammer in The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder, from a screenplay by Chris Terrio, and features an ensemble cast that includes Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Ciarán Hinds, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons and Jesse Eisenberg.

Justice League hits theaters on November 11, 2017.
