It wasn't too long ago that the mysterious Lord Drakkon was revealed to be none other than the Dark Universe's Green Ranger, but his history doesn't stop there.
Spoilers incoming for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #12, so if you haven't read it yet you've been warned.
Tommy and Billy find themselves at the mercy of the Drakkon and his forces until some timely intervention from Saba, the sentient sword. After the group gets some distance between them and Drakkon (courtesy of a salvaged FalconZord), Saba recalls the villain's history and how he amassed his power, and the story sounds rather familiar at the beginning.
Rita kidnapped this universe's Tommy just like before, but things took a turn after the Rangers destroyed the sword of darkness. Tommy had the freedom to choose his direction, but instead of joining the other Rangers he would again enlist under Rita's rule. He would lead her forces as they slowly took over the earth city by city.
In a last ditch effort, Zordon attempted to harness a new power that would lead to the creation of the White Ranger, with Jason (the Red Ranger) as the choice to undergo the process. In a final showdown Rangers from all walks of the earth came together to defend Zordon's base until Jason could complete the transformation process, and would attempt to face down Rita's massive army, led by the Green Ranger.
Unfortunately, the Green Ranger got through before the transformation was complete, and though he fought to keep him at bay, the Green Ranger emerged victorious on the battlefield, holding the Red Ranger's helmet and harnessing the new powers of the White light. That was the day the Rangers fell.
