As this week began, the reviews for the upcoming Power Rangers reboot began to flood the Internet. While the critics were fairly mixed regarding their thoughts on the movie, some information about one of the film's characters came to light - and it had everybody talking.
It was revealed that Trini (Becky G), who later becomes the Yellow Ranger, is a lesbian in the movie.
In a scene when someone is questioning the character about her problems, it's revealed that she could be having some 'girlfriend problems'.
This is a big step for Power Rangers, as they're creating the first major homosexual hero on the big screen. The character hasn't traditionally been portrayed as a lesbian, but the move reflected the diverse and inclusive society of 2017.
After the announcement, social media had quite the field day.
Most Were Happy About The Decision
All over Twitter, fans were ecstatic that the movie was choosing to give a voice to the LGBTQ community.

Diversity Is Everywhere
The LGBTQ community wasn't the only one given representation in Power Rangers.
When the cast was first announced, it was evident this film would be inclusive. Four of the five rangers are played by people of color, which doesn't follow the traditional casting of the characters.
It was also revealed that the Blue Ranger has autism, giving a super-voice to that community as well.
dc and marvel honestly wish their movies were as amazing and diverse as power rangers and those are facts— hna (@kimbrlyhart) March 20, 2017
