Spoilers ahead for The Flash #21, out today.
After a brief meeting with the "Flashpoint Batman," Thomas Wayne of the alternate timeline created when The Flash traveled into the past to save his mother, Batman found himself standing face to face with a tangible, permanent version of the Flashpoint Batman at the end of today's issue of The Flash.
Barry and Bruce, attempting to track a missing piece of evidence (the Comedian's bloddy button from Watchmen) and learn the truth about who killed Eobard Thawne, ran across the last person to have killed him: Flashpoint Batman, who stabbed an immobile Thawne in the back during the Flashpoint miniseries in 2011.
That certainly wasn't on purpose, as a baffled Bruce and an increasingly paranoid Barry were surprised to find their way around the Batcave on Earth-Flashpoint before finally realizing where they were and what was going on.
And with the Cosmic Treadmill destroyed, it may be nearly impossible for Barry and Bruce to return home without seeking help from Eobard Thawne himself -- who is likely still alive in Flashpoint because time travel hurts all of our brains.
What's next? Well, it's hard to say, but here's the solicitation text for next week's Batman #22:
