Easter Eggs are a huge part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but according to producer Kevin Feige, all the hidden things in the movies are more than just nods to fans. Those Easter Eggs are there to tie all the movies together.

Speaking at the L.A. red carpet premiere of Thor: Ragnarok tonight, Feige said that while the movies are for fans who plan to only see the film the one time in theaters, they are also for the kinds of fans who will watch the movies repeatedly.

"We make these movies for people to enjoy once on opening weekend if that's what they want to do, but really, because we're more like the people who watch it over and over again, we make it for them," Feige said.

It's for those viewers that the Easter Eggs there, but the producer reveals that they're not just to enjoy. Those Easter Eggs tie all of the films together for fans who are paying attention.

"We put things in, you can call them Easter Eggs, you can call them hidden items," he explained. "They're lots in there. It's not just within each movie, it's connective tissue between all the movies so there are things coming up, there are things in this movie that tie back to ten movies ago that you will only get if you've been tracking them very closely."

And fans definitely do track them closely, even the ones that don't appear to directly tie back to other Marvel Cinematic Movie films. Eagle-eyed fans have been spotting various nods to comics in Thor: Ragnarok promos, including things like an "Obedience Disk" on Thor's neck while he's on Sakaar, similar to those seen in "Planet Hulk" when the Hulk was taken prisoner by the Red King and turned into a gladiator. And one film, Guardians of the Galaxy, is infamous for the Easter Egg hunt that director James Gunn sent fans on, one of which apparently has not yet been found.

With Thor: Ragnarok setting up for Avengers: Infinity War, fans are sure to be paying very close attention to what clues and nods might be hidden in the film, both to connect to previous MCU installments and to the future for the universe as well.

Thor: Ragnarok opens in theaters November 3, 2017.
