Social media has failed this city. Yesterday, Arrow star Stephen Amell announced via Facebook that he would be hosting a live Q&A for fans today, to prep for tonight's episode, "Heir to the Demon." Today, he held it--and things were going well for a while. Amell tackled most of the typical fan questions: "How comfortable is the costume?" (Fine, except that leather doesn't respond well to weather and so is always hot in the summer and cold in the winter); "Will we ever see Bruce Wayne on the show?" (No idea who you're talking about...just kidding!); "Will you ever grow Oliver Queen's trademark facial hair? (I can't grow a goatee without looking like a creep...but that's why we have makeup departments)...then, Amell suddenly got quiet.

Then he started another thread, saying that for some reason he wasn't able to respond to anything on the previous one (where he had answered about 50 questions already, as far as we can tell). He didn't answer any of the fans' questions on the second thread, and shortly thereafter came this message: K... Facebook has fully blocked me from making comments on any and all posts because I'm so prolific at replying their algorithm's determined I must be a spam bot. I AM AMELL THE SPAM BOT. Sorry everybody... Wanted to go for another 30 minutes. My apologies if your question didn't get answered. We will do this again and it won't mess up. In the meantime... I'm sort of glad I broke Facebook. Since then, his page seems to be acting up a bit; he posted a link to an interview he did with the New York Times, only for that link to disappear a few minutes later. Facebook has a history of responding rather slowly to things like this, so it may be a few days before Amell is back to his regular, Facebook-frequenting self. With a little luck, they'll figure something out, though, ahead of tonight's new episode of Arrow.
