Spider-Verse Interlocking Covers

In a special liveblog event, Marvel Comics has announced the next big thing for fans to be excited about: Spider-Verse. When we speculated that last week's "every single one" teaser was referencing every single Spider-Man suit, we weren't thinking quite big enough. Spider-Verse will actually feature every single Spider-Man from every universe. The story starts in November's Amazing Spider-Man #9 by Dan Slott and Olivier Coipel, with a special preview coming out on Free Comic Book Day by Slot and Giuseppe. "This is EVERY Spider-Man EVER teaming up," said writer Dan Slott. "Or fighting. Some won't get along. It's a Spider-Man story on a scale we've never seen before. It's epic in scope." On top of every Spider-Man ever, Slott also promises to introduce new Spider-Men into the fold. "EVERY Spider-Man EVER wasn't enough! We're bringing in new ones you haven't seen before!" said Slott

The villain of the piece will be someone who hasn't been seen in Spider-Man comics for some time. "We haven't seen the villain of Spider-Verse in a while," said Slott, "but whenever he shows up, you know you're guaranteed a slobberknocker of epic proportions. There's something about this character that we don't know yet, and it threatens the existence of all Spider-Men everywhere…Morlun! Morlun will be back. We will find out he's part of an even bigger thing." "Morlun always kicks the crap out of Spider-Man," added editor Nick Lowe "Spidey has never been closer to defeat than when he faces Morlun. Prior to Spider-Verse, I'd put Morlun top 10 in Spidey's rogue gallery; following Spider-Verse, top three. What Dan and Olivier have planned is nuts." "There has been a prophecy in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man and Superior Spider-Man that every spider will die," teased Slott.

Spider-Verse - Morlun

When a fan brought up the involvement of the Superior Spider-Man, the team said no comment…yet. Spider-Woman, however, will be involved, as will Miles Morales. They clarified that Morales and Peter Parker remember each other from their previous encounter, but that Spider-Verse is not the sequel to Spider-Men. While the main Spider-Verse story will run for six issues in Amazing Spider-Man, there will plenty of tie-ins, with new series and mini-series launching alongside it.

Spider-Verse 1602

The sneak preview of Spider-Verse will be released on Free Comic Book Day, May 5, with the story officially beginning in Amazing Spider-Man #9 in April.
