John Constantine is returning to the Arrowverse, and actor Matt Ryan has released a new tease to get fans hyped.
Ryan will be reprising his fan-favorite role in an upcoming two-episode arc of DC's Legends of Tomorrow, and the actor shared a shadowy glimpse of his character. The photo shows Ryan's shadow (with trademark trenchcoat) against a dilapidated wall, and while it doesn't' reveal much, it does coincide with his arc's overall tone.
Constantine is a man of magic after all and lives in a world where exorcisms and demons are commonplace. It makes sense then that his appearance on Legends will necessitate some dealings with the supernatural, as well as a certain Damien Darhk. Legends executive producer Phil Klemmer teased that and even more for the character's upcoming appearance.
"His appearance in episode 310 will involve the following: a revisiting of Arrow season four and the events following that season’s finale episode; a confrontation with this season’s Big Bad on Legends — the name we’ve only heard whispered until now Mallus; some hot sex — something that has been in short supply on the Waverider thus far in season three; and Damien
That sounds pretty epic, and it should help tide Constantine fans over until his next reappearance.
Ryan played the role of Constantine in a one season stint on NBC. While the show was well liked amongst fans, it didn't get the ratings return that the network wanted, and got the ax after just one season. Since then though he's returned to the role in a DC animated movie, a CW Seed animated series, and a memorable episode of Arrow.
Most fans are hoping that his stint on Legends won't be the last.
Legends of Tomorrow airs on The CW Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
