Production is gearing up on DC's upcoming Shazam! movie and director David F. Sandberg is giving fans a peek behind the scenes at how things are going in an all-smiles photo with the film's star, Zachary Levi.

In the photo shared to his Instagram, Sandberg and Levi are seen hanging out with a very happy looking dog.

"In other news, here's a good boy who's going to be in Shazam!" Sandberg captioned the image. "Also pictured; a dog."

The photo is the latest update from Sandberg who has been very active on social media with updates about the upcoming DC film. Recently, he shared his very Shazam-oriented Christmas gifts and the director isn't alone in sharing updates about the film. Levi has also been keeping fans up-to-date, recently revealing that he was heading to Toronto for production. As this photo shows, Levi and Sandberg are finally together, meaning work can begin to bring Shazam! to life.

And for fans of the "big red cheese," that's an exciting prospect. The Shazam! movie has been a little bit of a question mark since it was first announced. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was originally set to star in the film as Black Adam, a rival to the movie's titular hero, but is now set to have his own, standalone movie. The choice of Sandberg as director was also a bit of a surprise, considering that Sandberg's film experience leans more on the horror side, with films like Annabelle: Creation and Lights Out. However, Sandberg has dove headlong into Shazam! even making suggestions to fans as to what material they should be reading in order to prepare themselves for the upcoming movie.

Shazam! currently has a 3.7 out of 5 ComicBook.com User Anticipation Rating, making it the 13th most anticipated upcoming comic book movie among ComicBook.com Users. Let us know how excited you are about Shazam! by giving the movie your own personal ComicBook.com User Anticipation Rating below.

Shazam! will open in theaters on April 5, 2019.

Other upcoming DC Extended Universe films include Aquaman on December 21, 2018, Wonder Woman 2 on November 1, 2019, Cyborg in 2020, and Green Lantern Corps in 2020.
