A new trailer released for Dragon Ball FighterZ focuses entirely on Freeza, one of the most iconic villains from the series.

Uploaded to the Bandai Namco YouTube channel on Tuesday, the new Freeza trailer fittingly shows the purple and white villain clashing against Goku and Trunks, the preview mostly consisting of whooping them around the arenas to show off Freeza's moves. Much of the trailer simply shows different angles of Freeza blasting Goku with different energy-based attacks, but there were some parts of the fighter preview that were pretty recognizable.

From the beginning, Freeza's already powering up to get ready for the fight with Goku, so players can definitely expect to cycle through various power levels during the fight in order to access different abilities. One of these power levels that's become Freeza's most popular form is the ultimate form that's reached when he becomes Golden Freeza.

Interestingly enough, it seems that Golden Freeza won't be a completely separate fighter from his base form. Transforming into Golden Freeza is a limited-time change that'll grant more power and abilities, but players will have to fall back to a lesser form eventually after the limit for the transformation is reached.

Having to work their way up to the Golden Freeza form may seem like a no-brainer since most players would probably opt for that form over the base Freeza if the two were separate characters, but it's a different route taken from the way that Super Saiyan Blue was implemented for Goku and Vegeta. Both of those Saiyans can cycle through Super Saiyan forms with their base characters, but the Super Saiyan Blue versions are entirely separate fighters.

In addition to spotting Freeza's ultimate transformation, one of the villain's signature moves also makes a return in the upcoming Dragon Ball fighting game. While in his lesser form, Freeza tosses out a Death Ball to inflict some heavy damage on his opponent. Seeing this move alongside the Golden Freeza form also brings to mind the Golden Death Ball attack and whether or not it'll be included, but it definitely makes sense that it'd be there.

Dragon Ball FighterZ releases in early 2018 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
