Raiden isn't officially making his way to the Injustice 2 roster until tomorrow, but thanks to a glitch, several players on Xbox One have been able to unlock and play him early. This has given a few lucky gamers a chance to deep-dive into all of his character interactions, and there are quite a few references to the classic brawler Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe between Raiden, Sub-Zero, and their non Mortal Kombat opponents. YouTuber SinX6 took the time to isolate all of these unique references and upload them in a video, which you can watch above.

The shout-outs range from vague nods to story and boss references. While the story nods are sure to bring back some good memories, it's the casual character interactions that get us more tickled. It's especially interesting to see how certain characters' react differently to Batman and Superman following the events of the original Injustice: Gods Among Us.

You can see that Raiden and Superman were once allies, but now Raiden perceives Superman as an adversary to this realm instead of a guardian. Sub-Zero also has a bit of a rivalry with Batman, though that shouldn't surprise any of you. Batman is loathe to trust anyone, even his closest friends, and Sub-Zero doesn't exactly come across as a wholesome person.

It should be remembered that the Mortal Kombat and DC characters have crossed paths in two major games. While most of these references we hear above are from Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, Scorpion also appeared in the original Injustice, bringing those worlds together yet again. It was in MK vs. DCU that these characters shared a common thread in Dark Kahn, who you will hear referenced multiple times.

What did you think? NetherRealm always goes above and beyond with its fan service, and we knew that Scorpion and Raiden would get their fair share of nods. If you played through Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe be sure to chime in on Facebook or Twitter and let us know what other Easter eggs you've spotted!
