The CW's long running Supernatural will air its 13th season this October, and while there's currently no planned end in sight for the popular series, star Jensen Ackles dreamt an emotional last scene.

"I can see it right now," Ackles shared with EW. "It's just one scene. Think: Middle America, Big Sky country. It's just wheat fields as far as the eye can see, and there's an intersection, a crossroads, oddly enough. I drive up in the Impala, and I park in the middle of the intersection. There's nobody for miles. I get out of the car and I look in the distance — and it's like Lawrence of Arabia when Omar Sharif was running up with the camel — I just see this thing coming in the distance, and it gets closer and closer and closer and closer. It's a guy on a motorbike. And we never really see his face. He's got a helmet on. But he walks up and I give him a nod, and I take a walk around the Impala very slowly and I walk back over to him and I hand the keys to him. And he takes off his helmet — we don't see who it is — he hands the helmet to me and hands me the keys to the bike. From his back, he gets in the car and I watch the Impala drive off. And then I turn and I look at the bike that's got one seat. And I put the helmet on, start the bike, [give] one last look to the Impala, it's now gone, and I take off. Because I don't need the extra seat anymore. And I even have the soundtrack in my head. There were no words spoken. I had this swelling score. It was like some Robert Zemeckis film."

"I can see the emotion in your face talking about it," said co-star Misha Collins, having freshly heard the vision for the first time. "It's amazing to think that you've lived with these characters for so long that the idea of one of them dying actually even makes you, as Jensen, want to tear up."

Ackles, who portrays Dean (the elder half of the Winchester brothers duo), previously said the show could end with its 300th episode. "In a marathon, I keep my sights on that next mile, wherever that might be," Ackles shared last year. "And 300's a good number to work for."

"If we don't make it to 300, I think Ackles and I will both be truly bummed," added Jared Padalecki, who plays Sam Winchester. "When we get to 300, I think Ackles and I will think it might be time to say bye. There's a chance that changes, but we certainly do not take it for granted that we're going to make it to 300."

""I feel like if I ever show up to set and I feel like I don't care, or if I feel like he doesn't care, then that's the canary leaving the mine," Ackles said. "To this day, I have not really ever sensed that from myself or him… They're paying us to bring that little bit of magic to what they wrote, and I still feel that magic today. The day that I don't feel that magic will be a very sad day, and I hope that day never comes. I'd like to get to 300 before that day comes."

However and whenever Supernatural ends, executive producer Bob Singer would like to go out with a planned finale. "We talked about wanting to be able to know when our end was, and if it was to be, let's say, 300 episodes, we could tell a 13-episode story," he said. "I think it would be bad for this show to just ride off in the sunset without a finale. I think we've earned that. I don't know what that finale is, but we'd certainly like to do one."

Supernatural returns for its 13th season Thursday, October 12th at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
