'Riverdale': "When A Stranger Calls" Clip Released

The CW has released a clip from tonight's episode of Riverdale, titled "Chapter Eighteen: When A Stranger Calls."

The clip features Veronica Lodge's (Camila Mendes) old friend from New York, Nick St. Clair (guest star Graham Phillips) questioning Veronica and Archie Andrews (KJ Apa) about life in Riverdale, and, as you can see in the video above, not only is Nick being more than a little condescending about Riverdale's small-town charm, he is also making Archie very uncomfortable as he openly flirts with Veronica.

According to Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Archie has every right to be uncomfortable. Not only does Nick -- who is in Riverdale with his parents for the open house of the Lodge's SoDale real estate development -- have a history with Veronica, but he's also used to getting whatever he wants.

"Nick is an old classmate of Veronica's from New York, and despite his parent-pleasing veneer, he is a wolf in sheep's clothing: a hard-partying Lothario with dark desires and an unchecked sense of privilege," Aguirre-Sacasa told Entertainment Weekly earlier this year. "His arrival in Riverdale will threaten Archie's relationship with Veronica, and may even put some of our characters at risk."

Of course, the dangers Nick might present aren't the only thing the Riverdale kids have to deal with in tonight's episode. Last week, the Black Hood called Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) personally, something that is sure to have repercussions tonight.

Riverdale airs Wednesday nights at 8/7c on The CW.
