Last night, ex-soldier Robert Storrie and his old Army pal Steven Robertson were walking home from a costume party in Paisley, Scotland. Storrie was dressed as Batman's arch-nemesis The Joker and Robertson was dressed as Batman's sidekick Robin. It was half-past midnight when they stumbled upon an apartment building that was on fire. The real-life heroes rushed into the building going door-to-door banging on doors trying to alert residents of the danger they were in.

"I thought I was having a crazy dream when Robin and The Joker banged on my door in the middle of the night,"rescuee Nicola Clements told The Daily Record. "They deserve a medal. Everyone got out because of their fast thinking."

When knocking wasn't enough Storrie says he resorted to "kicking down doors because the fire was spreading fast."

Of course, some of the occupants thought is was a joke when The Joker and Robin unexpectedly banged on their doors. "At one flat, a guy took one look and just slammed the door on us," Robertson recalled. "We had to hit his door again and tell him we weren't joking."

Storrie attributed their heroic actions to their military training, "We had training in the Army on how to deal with a fire so we made as much noise as we could, banging on every door from the top down and screaming, 'Fire! Fire!'"

Thankfully, there were no injuries reported. Fire crews later learned that the blaze was started when a man fell asleep after cooking sausages. He left a burner on and it led to the fire. The man and his four-year-old son lost all of their belongings, but at least they still have their lives.
