Today, Comic-Con International (Comic-Con), the nonprofit educational organization dedicated to creating awareness of and appreciation for comics and popular art, announced the first five special guests for its show.

Leading off is Kelly Sue DeConnick. She is the talented writer behind Marvel Comics' Captain Marvel and Avengers Assemble as well Pretty Deadly and Bitch Planet for Image Comics. Batting second is artist Carlos Ezquerra. He is best known as the co-creator of 2000 AD's Judge Dredd. In the third spot is Lev Grossman. He is the author behing the bestselling fantasy series, The Magicians. Batting cleanup is writer/director/producer Reginald Hudlin. He helped produce Quentin Taratino's Django Unchained and wrote Marvel's Black Panther comic books from 2005 to 2008. His run was highlighted by the Black Panther and Storm wedding in the "Bride of the Panther" storyline. In the fifth spot is William Stout ("The New Dinosaurs"), who is best known as a master dinosaur artist.

Comic-Con International at the San Diego Convention Center begins on Thursday, July 9, and runs through Sunday, July 12, 2015.
