Pikachu Is Getting A TV Special

TV Tokyo has announced (via Anime News Network) that a new Pikachu one-hour television special will premiere on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.

Pokémon XY: Pikachu the Movie 1-Hour Special will apparently feature a "big outbreak" of Pikachu.

The special will feature five acts. Between The Pokémon Company and TV Tokyo, three of the acts are described below:

A big outbreak of Pikachu?!

A movie of Pikachu by Pikachu for Pikachu is finally complete! The evil organization Black Pikachu Corps approaches Pikachu Land! Will Super Pikachu really be able to protect the peace of the area?!

"Chōsen Pokémon Sky Relay! Tobe Onbat!!

An aviation race with Pokémon who fly in the sky, and Ash will enter the Pokémon sky relay! Ash contends with Fletchinder, Hawlucha, and Noibat, but Noibat doesn't seem good at flying yet. Will Noibat really be able to fly well?

"Pikachu wa Star!? Eiga Debut!!"

An old man who loves Pikachu is making a movie and chooses Ash's Pikachu to be the leading actor! Ash and friends get super excited when a lot of Pikachu are on set! But because there's insufficient staff and they aren't able to make the story, there's a crisis! Ash and friends rise to the challenge of this crisis!

Kunihiko Yuyama and Tetsuo Yajima are also returning from the Pokémon XY television anime to serve as chief director and director, respectively, with Atsuhiro Tomioka serving essentially as showrunner.

Pokémon XY airs on TV Tokyo at 7 p.m. on Thursdays. The series began airing on Cartoon Network in January 2014.
