Jon Bernthal is ready to dish out some punishment as Frank Castle in the upcoming Season 2 of Netflix's Daredevil. The second season, which looks exponentially darker than the first, and seems to explore the broad spectrum of vigilantism.

Recently, Bernthal sat down with Marvel to talk about his portrayal of the Punisher and the contrast between him and Daredevil with some insight on how Castle will be represented this time around. When asked about if Bernthal found sympathy for Castle, if that reflects in his performance, he responded how it's the opposite for him.

"For me, it's to be completely unapologetic and to move forward one hundred percent and not concern yourself," he said. "When you're involved in something that's very brutal and you know your audience is going to abandon you because of your actions, don't shy away from that. Just do it. Don't make it a half-measure; don't take your foot off the accelerator. Go full force, and trust that you will have the opportunity down the road to show why [you did that]."

Bernthal also commented that he felt that Frank was coming from a "genuine place" and there's a risk involved when taking on these sort of characters because you could lose the audience. "I think you just have to do that with a character like this and the great thrill for me, of playing a character on television, is the ability to lose them and win them back."

Marvel's Daredevil Season 2 hits Netflix March 16th, 2016.
