Saturday, during The Flash panel at San Diego Comic-Con, the first trailer for Season 3 was shown and now, The CW Television Network has released it online.

In the closing moments of the Season 2 finale ("The Race of His Life"), just after the terrifying Earth-2 speedster Zoom was defeated and the real Jay Garrick was revealed to be an Earth-3 doppleganger of Barry's recently-deceased father, Iris told Barry that she is ready to take their relationship out of the friend-zone and start dating. This is what Barry has wanted to hear forever, but he can't enjoy it because the recent events in his life have crippled him emotionally. So instead of hoping that time will heal his emotional wounds, he traveled back in time to the night his mother died, and this time, he prevented Reverse-Flash from murdering her. Thus, setting up Flashpoint for Season 3!

Flashpoint was a five-issue miniseries written by Geoff Johns and illustrated by Andy Kubert. It told the story of Barry Allen waking up powerless in an alternate timeline where there was no Superman or The Flash, Wonder Woman and Aquaman's nations were on the brink of war, and Batman was Thomas Wayne, a man driven to the edge after the murder of his son, Bruce, in Crime Alley. Since Barry is the only one that can remember the original timeline, he goes to great lengths to restore his powers so that he travel back in time and figure out how everything got screwed up. The big twist is that it's all his fault because he traveled back in time to save his mother.

The cast features Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/The Flash, Candice Patton as Iris West, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon, Tom Cavanagh as Dr. Harrison Wells, and Jesse L. Martin as Detective Joe West.

The third season of The Flash will debut on Tuesday, October 4th at 8 p.m. (EST).
