Superman Done In Logan Trailer Style

The newest Logan mashup proves two things. No. 1, Johnny Cash makes pretty much anything better, and No.2 dialogue delivery matters.

YouTube user Gage Masterson has created a KENT trailer, splicing up Man of Steel and it's accompanying dialogue and overlaying Johnny Cash's Hurt overtop of it. The song does bring a physical weight to certain scenes, including pretty much every appearance by Michael Shannon's Zod, and including the scene where he is grasping the dirt was a nice touch.

Ironically it's the more science fiction elements that resonate most here. The war on Krypton and Zod's exile are all poignant moments where the soundtrack raises even further, which also occurs at the end when Russell Crowe speaks.

The only problem is that throughout the trailer, not everyone has that same delivery, so it's a weird juxtaposition of rather casual dialogue with an intense backing track. It's not Masterson's fault, as that was the dialogue from the film, but compared to some of the lines Xavier delivers in the Logan trailer, the two styles don't always match up.

Still, it's an impressive project, and for more of Masterson's work you can head here to his YouTube page.

Logan takes place in the year 2024, where mutant births have become extremely rare. The defenders of mutantkind, the X-Men, are long gone, and the only remains of them are an old and struggling Charles Xavier and a weary Logan. Logan's vaunted healing factor has slowed, and at times doesn't seem to work at all. When a young mutant needs his help, Logan has to unsheathe his claws once more. His job isn't over yet.

Logan is partly based on the fan favorite Old Man Logan storyline seen in the comics, but does seem to take some cues from Cable and Hope's storyline, where he protects her from a young age, as she is seen as the mutant savior.
