While promoting xXx: The Return of Xander Cage in Brazil, as the first part of the film’s global tour, Nina Dobrev — best known for potraying Elena Gilbert/Katherine Pierce for six seasons on The CW’s supernatural drama series The Vampire Diaries — was asked if there’s a comic book role she would like to play.

She began by telling CinePOP, a Brazilian entertainment site, that her first-choice would be “Wonder Woman,” but since Gal Gadot has the Amazonian Princess on lockdown, she doesn’t hold out any hope that it’ll become available anytime soon. Though she admitted to not knowing all that much about comic books, the 27-year-old actress did offer-up another iconic character she’d be interested in playing: “Catwoman.”
So far, Catwoman (Selina Kyle) — the sexy and cunning cat burglar who can steal just about anything, even Bruce Wayne’s heart — has been introduced in Warner Bros.’ DC Cinematic Universe, and according to actress Sienna Miller, the character isn’t in the script for Ben Affleck’s upcoming Batman solo film, so it might be a while before we see the Princess of Plunder on the big screen again.
The third explosive chapter of the blockbuster franchise that redefined the spy thriller finds extreme athlete turned government operative Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) coming out of self-imposed exile and on a collision course with deadly alpha warrior Xiang (Donnie Yen) and his team in a race to recover a sinister and seemingly unstoppable weapon known as Pandora’s Box. Recruiting an all-new group of thrill-seeking cohorts, Xander finds himself enmeshed in a deadly conspiracy that points to collusion at the highest levels of world governments. Packed with the series’ signature deadpan wit and bad-ass attitude, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage will raise the bar on extreme action with some of the most mind-blowing stunts to ever be caught on film.
The cast features Vin Diesel (Guardians of the Galaxy), Donnie Yen (Ip Man), Deepika Padukone (Tamasha), Tony Jaa (Furious 7), Ruby Rose (Orange Is the New Black), MMA fighter Conor McGregor, Nina Dobrev (The Vampire Diaries), Kris Wu (Somewhere Only We Know), Hermione Corfield (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation), Toni Collette (The Sixth Sense) and Samuel L. Jackson (The Avengers).
D.J. Caruso (I Am Number Four) is directing xXx: The Return of Xander Cage. The film is written by Chad St. John (London Has Fallen) with current revisions by F. Scott Frazier (Collider).
xXx: The Return of Xander Cage is hitting theaters January 20, 2017.
