Not every network announces their renewels and cancellations at the same time. Take for instance The CW, it renewed all of its DC superhero television series -- Supergirl, Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow -- at the start of the year and ordered a second season of its Archie Comics-based teen-drama, Riverdale, just two months ago. However, now that most of the networks' fall TV shows are about to air their final episodes of the season, we can expect a flurry of renewals and cancellations from ABC, NBC, FOX, and even The CW.
With this Tuesday being the penultimate episode of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD, fans have been on the edge of their seats awaiting word on the show's future ... if there is one. According to the latest report, fans can expect to see more of Coulson, May, Quake, Mack, Fitz, and Simmons -- as long as they make it out of the fourth season alive.
Deadline's Nellie Andreeva reports: "Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., which serves as a solid marketing platform for the Disney-owned Marvel, also is getting renewed I hear."
While this is certainly good news and comes from a very reliable source, most of us won't breath a sigh of relief until ABC makes the fifth season renewal official -- which in the past has usually come in mid-May.
COULSON'S VICTORY IN THE FRAMEWORK REVEALS A GREATER THREAT – In the exciting penultimate episode leading into next week's season finale, Coulson and the team's victory in the Framework is short-lived, as an even deadlier enemy looms against them all.
The regular cast features Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Chloe Bennet as Daisy Johnson, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons, Henry Simmons as Agent Alphonso "Mack" MacKenzie, and John Hannah as Holden Radcliffe.
The guest cast includes Natalia Cordova-Buckley as Elena "Yo-Yo" Rodriguez, Mallory Jansen as Aida, Adrian Pasdar as Brigadier General Glenn Talbot, Briana Venskus as Agent Piper, Maximilian Osinski as Agent Davis, Zach McGowan as The Superior, Ricardo Walker as Agent Prince, Brennan Feonix as Airman Whitley, and J. Michael Evans as Airman Richardson.
"The Return" was written by Maurissa Tancharoen & Jed Whedon and directed by Kevin Tancharoen.
Marvel's Agents of SHIELD was co-created by Joss Whedon (The Avengers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen (Dollhouse, Dr.Horrible's Sing-Along Blog), who also serve as executive producers along with Jeffrey Bell (Angel, Alias) and Jeph Loeb (Jessica Jones, Daredevil). Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios.
"The Return" episode of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD will air Tuesday, May 9 at 10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT on The ABC Television Network.
