Colossus Actor Welcomes New Mutants Star To X-Men Family

The X-Men family got a little bit bigger this week, and the current stars of the franchise are awaiting their new siblings with open arms.
Comic fans know that the Summers' aren't the only major family in X-Men lore, and 20th Century Fox has just revealed that the same will be true of the cinematic universe. The character Magik, sister of Colossus, was officially cast in the New Mutants film yesterday.
Stefan Kapicic portrays Colossus in the films, beginning with his performance in Deadpool, and he was more than excited to say hello to his new screen-sister.
After someone tweeted out a picture of Colossus and Magik from the comics, Kapicic quoted that tweet with a welcome for Anya Taylor-Joy, who will be playing the character.

Taylor-Joy is set to star in New Mutants, while Kapicic is only currently slated for a role in the upcoming Deadpool sequel. While the two characters aren't scheduled to appear in a movie together any time soon, it wouldn't be surprising to see them in the same film down the road. Being siblings, and existing in the same connected universe, it would be a shock if they didn't co-exist at some point.
Fans are already on-board with this casting, and they've taken to social media to make it known. One fan in particular noted just how similar the two on-screen siblings actually looked.

Along with the announcement that Taylor-Joy had been cast as Magik, it was revealed that Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams will be portraying Wolfsbane in the film.
Both New Mutants and Deadpool 2 are slated to hit theaters in 2018. New Mutants on April 13, and Deadpool 2 on June 1.

David Leitch (John Wick) will direct the Deadpool 2, taking over for original Deadpool director Tim Miller. Fox is reportedly aiming for a June start of production in Vancouver.
Ryan Reynolds will return as Wade Wilson, a.k.a. Deadpool, the Merc with a Mouth. For the sequel, he'll be joined by Josh Brolin as Cable. Cable was co-created by Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld and Louise Simonson. He has often been paired with Deadpool as his grim, serious demeanor serves as the perfect foil to Deadpool's crude and zany humor. The duo headlined an ongoing comic book series, Cable & Deadpool, for 50 issues.
In the Marvel Comics Universe, Cable's real name is Nathan Christopher Summers and he is the son of Scott Summers, Cyclops of the X-Men. As an infant, Nathan was infected with a techno-organic virus for which no cure or treatment exists as of the present day. To save his son's life, Cyclops sent him into the future, where the boy learned to use his telekinetic mutant gifts to control the spread of the disease, though his left arm was consumed and now appears metallic. In the future, Cable battled the mutant tyrant Apocalypse and later traveled back in time to try to stop his desolate future timeline from ever coming into existence, forming the paramilitary mutant group known as X-Force along the way.
Atlanta star Zazie Beetz has also been cast in Deadpool 2. She will play Domino, a mutant with probability manipulation abilities that endows her with improbably good luck. In the Marvel Comics Universe, Domino was a member of Cable's mercenary crew, Six Pack, and one of his early love interests.
